Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s edition of the Carnaby Blog! I know it’s hard to paint a picture in your head when reading a blog, so let me set the scene for you. I am currently sat in the Carnaby office, with the amazing Bridlington weather beaming through the window, drinking a cup of tea and building up increasing excitement to watch the Tour de Yorkshire!
Okay, well there we go… I’ve lead myself onto the next topic of conversation… THE TOUR DE YORKSHIRE! I’m sure most sports and cycling fans will understand exactly what I’m talking about, but if you don’t I’ll give you a quick update. The Tour de Yorkshire is a Road Cycling race which will begin today (01/05/15) in our local seaside town of Bridlington. The race has generated massive amounts of publicity for local towns, villages and businesses and has attracted some of the most high profile athletes from all over the world, the most notable of these being Olympic Gold Medallist, Sir Bradley Wiggins (Who will be taking part in the event).
The event itself will be in three stages which I have listed below:
• Stage 1 on Friday 1st May will start in Bridlington and finish in Scarborough - 174km
• Stage 2 on Saturday 2nd May will start in Selby and finish in York - 174km
• Stage 3 on Sunday 3rd May will start in Wakefield and finish in Leeds - 167km
I would highly recommend that if you are travelling to Bridlington or surrounding areas during these dates, you should avoid certain areas in certain times. The reason for this being that there are rolling road closures throughout the day to keep the race safe and fluid throughout each stage. For more information on these road closures, or indeed on the race itself visit the Tour de Yorkshire visit the official site at http://letour.yorkshire.com.
That is everything from me today, thanks once again for reading and have a fantastic bank holiday weekend!
